Sandpoint

Sand Point stretches along the western shore of Lake Washington and boasts two of northeast Seattle's most popular parks, Matthews Beach and Magnuson Park. Both parks offer residents access to the lake for swimming and kayaking; in addition, 350-acre Magnuson Park has a small craft center for sailing, several athletic fields and trails through out its natural areas. This neighborhood is primarily residential and has a small commercial district along Sand Point Way near University Village. Housing in the area consists of older homes with views of the Cascade Range and many affordable apartments and rental properties near the lake. Sand Point appeals to many University students because it is close to campus and its convenient bus routes make for an easy commute. The Burke Gilman Trail travels through the area and many commuters use it to bike or walk to the University.
