Queen Anne

Rising 500 feet above downtown, Queen Anne Hill is a popular neighborhood close to the urban core. The hill divides Queen Anne into two distinct neighborhoods: lower and upper. Lower Queen Anne is popular with a younger crowd and its restaurants, bars and shops cater to the singles scene and those who live in nearby apartments. This south side of the hill is home to the Seattle Center, the city's focal point for many events including Bumbershoot Music Festival, Folklife Festival and the Seattle Opera. The area is also popular with visitors who come to take in the view from the top of the Space Needle or explore the Pacific Science Center and the Experience Music Project. On top of the hill, upper Queen Anne has a much more established atmosphere. This neighborhood has a small town feel even as it looks over the city's skyline. Residents who stroll along Queen Anne Avenue pass upscale grocery stores and shops while on route to dine in one of the swanky restaurants accommodating affluent Queen Anne tastes.
