Green Lake

The Green Lake neighborhood is a central destination for those in Seattle who come to run, walk, bike or skate around the lake. Others come to Green Lake Park to use the athletic fields, go boating, go fishing, have picnics, or to spend sunny afternoons reading in the grass. The park makes this area an ideal setting for recreational and leisure activities. Many businesses in the area cater to the athletic-in-mind, with stores selling cycling and running equipment or featuring training programs to gear up for that next marathon or triathlon event. On weekends, activity around Green Lake increases as people come to the neighborhood to stroll around the park’s 2.8 miles of trails and then have lunch at a nearby restaurant. Houses predominate the streets around the lake, but just a few blocks away from the water a variety condominiums, duplexes and apartments offer more affordable housing options. Woodland Park and the Phinney Ridge neighborhood boarder Green Lake to the west, while the Roosevelt and Ravenna districts are to the east of the lake.
