Welcome to the Emerald City!

"The month of June saw long, warm days, cloudless blue skies, and mountain peaks that stayed out of hiding--as if intentionally, just to instill more deeply the settlers' conviction that Elliot Bay [Seattle] was indeed the most beautiful and productive country anyone could live in." --Brenda Wilbee, from her Sweetbriar novels of Seattle's founding families.

The city of Seattle is divided into subsections referred to as districts. Use the map on the right to explore each district. By clicking on each link, you can learn more about the area including popular restaurants, coffee houses, and bars. We've also listed neighborhood attractions and the bus lines that run to the UW. As you explore Seattle more, you will come across additional districts each with their own unique qualities we've choosen to omit based on distance from the UW.
