Coeur d' Alene, Idaho

Coeur d' Alene is peaceful oasis in northern Idaho where nature and luxury are equally appreciated. Situated on the 25-mile long Lake Coeur d' Alene, the city is literally afloat. Home to the longest floating boardwalk in the United States, a floating restaurant, and the first and only floating golf green, Coeur d'Alene is certain to offer any visitor a unique experience. Often compared to Lake Tahoe because of its natural beauty, Coeur d' Alene has dazzling lakes, clear blue skies, and mountains covered in green.

The famous Coeur d' Alene Resort, built in 1986, transformed Coeur d' Alene from an average city into an international tourist destination. This five-star resort has set the mood for the city, where tourists have a wide variety of activities from which to choose. The dense downtown area is filled to the brim with antique stores, restaurants, boutiques, wine cellars, and art galleries. This small downtown can easily be seen on foot. After strolling the downtown, take a short walk to the beach to participate in water sports -swimming, canoeing, kayaking, or boating - or just sun yourself on the large beach. Coeur d' Alene is home to the longest gondola in the world enabling visitors to view the beautiful area around the city. Other outdoor activities include golfing, hiking, biking, or visiting one of the 59 other lakes within 60 miles of Coeur d' Alene. If you're in the mood for some excitement and roller coasters, take the short drive to the Silverwood Amusement Park.

In the summer or winter, Coeur d' Alene is an ideal place to stay if you plan to day trip to Schweitzer Mountain, where hiking and mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter are plentiful. Only an hour away from Couer d' Alene, this is a daytrip you don't want to miss.
