Second Visit: April 23-25, 2020
We do not accommodate interviews on alternate dates.
We interview ~15 applicants per interview weekend. Interview weekends are Thursday-Sunday. We structure off-campus interviews for Thursday with on-campus interviews on Friday. Current MSTP students love to participate (they’re our best recruiters!) in interview weekends, so expect to meet many of them!
When you are invited to interview at UW MSTP, we’ll ask you for a list of 10-12 faculty with research interests similar to yours. You can submit this list via your application homepage. We cover your lodging for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights during interview weekends.

UW faculty value our MSTP very highly, are accessible and responsive, and enormously enjoy meeting with our applicants. We make every effort to pair you with faculty members you have asked to meet. Our directors will also provide suggestions of faculty members for you to meet given your research experience and interests.
In addition to 6-8 faculty interviews, you will also meet with one of the MSTP directors, one member of the MSTP admissions committee, and one MSTP student. Evaluations from all interviews are used by the admissions committee to make final decisions on offers of admission.
Admissions Committee Panel Interview
Your last interview on Friday afternoon will be with the MSTP Admissions Committee. This 15 minute interview gives you the opportunity to sit down with 8-10 members of our admissions committee, which includes the 4 MSTP directors. Don’t feel intimidated! This committee interview allows both you and the committee one last opportunity to ask questions. Our Admissions Committee is pretty impressive. Check out information about them on our faculty page.
